Nonbearing Wall

A non-bearing wall does not hold up anything other than its own weight, even if it connects to a ceiling. Modern steel building frames require the exterior walls only for shelter, not bearing weight, and that is why many skyscrapers do not have the exterior "skin" around them on the ground floor. It makes access easier, and it wasn’t going to be a load-bearing structure besides.
