Edmonton Alberta Downtown to See 2 New Hotels

The downtown core of Edmonton has seen a sort of dry spell in the area of hotel development with the last reported hotel being built in the late 1970's. This is all about to change as plans are in the works to build two major hotels in the downtown area which will give the neighborhood a new, fresh and modern look.

Construction crews are presently working on the 5th floor of the first hotel, located at Jasper Avenue and 96th Street. The Hyatt Place Hotel will contain 24 stories, underground parking, ground level commercial space for restaurants and boutiques and will bring its trademark elegant upscale style to the neighborhood. The estimated construction cost for the hotel is at $45 million CAD.

The second hotel being developed by WAM Development Group and the Katz Group, will be located in the Edmonton Arena District. South East of Rogers Place arena, this luxury hotel will contain deluxe residential units.

Both hotels will add a fresh and modern look to the downtown core area, and cater to both locals and traveling business people.

Completion of construction is estimated for a 2017 opening.
