Gusting Winds Blow Down Building at Construction Site in North Winnipeg

Today a large building that was under construction in the North side of Winnipeg, Manitoba, was found in a giant pile of rubble.

The job site is located on the north side of the perimeter highway and east of major artery McPhillips Street.

A member of the construction crew working on the building stated that the crew had left the site after work on Wednesday evening only to arrive the next morning to find the building toppled over like a pile of twigs.

The crew had been working on the framing of the large 2 storey shop space for a total of 6 weeks prior to the accident.

A crew member added that the situation was quite devastating for the crew to see their hard work demolished this way.

So far, it is speculated that heavy gusting winds had knocked down the shop, as heavy north winds were reported to be gusting up to 53 km per hour over Wednesday evening and still howling close to 50 km per hour on Thursday morning.

Insurance investigators are currently visiting the site to determine the exact cause.
