Whistler Blackcomb is not only a favorite hot spot for locals and Vancouverites, it is also a world class destination for skiers, snow boarders, hikers, and nature enthusiasts from around the world. And good times have just got better.

Avid skiers and boarders can now enjoy far more access and freedom to the giant hills and mountains this winter as Whistler / Blackcomb resorts have just completed constructing 2 new lifts.

The new Crystal Ridge Express has its new terminal located along the Blackcomb Glacier Road ski-out. This will allow skiers to course the entire Crystal Zone by allowing a by-pass of the Excelerator Express Chair. It also grants much quicker access to the Blackcomb Glacier, the Horstman Glacier and Spankys Ladder.

The second lift is located at Whistler Mountains Harmony Zone and will allow skiers a breath taking array of powder filled bowls, steeps and cruisers.

Quick facts:

- The new Harmony 6 chair lift will be able to transport a total of 3,600 skiers per hour. That's 1,200 additional skiers per hour compared to the old Harmony Chair.

- The new Crystal Ridge Express chair lift cable totals 3,466 meters in length.

- 39 towers were installed to accommodate the two new lifts.

- 237 lift chairs were installed for the Crystal Ridge Express and Harmony 6 lifts.

- It will take 6 minutes to get from the bottom to the top on either the Harmony 6 or Crystal Ridge Express chairs

- Whistler Blackcomb invested invested $18 million to build the 2 new chair lifts.

The Whistler/Blackcomb official website has been documenting the construction of the two lifts and has up to the minute updates on its progress.
